The Prolong SAG-AFTRA Strike ended after making a beneficial deal with the production houses. As per the new reports, the SAG-AFTRA strike brought a prolonged pause in the production of many movies, whether from Marvel to DC or any other popular Hollywood franchise. However, Hollywood has returned to normal after the prolonged strike officially ended.
SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP Finalize a Deal for Ending the Strike
The SAG-AFTRA union members, including actors and performers, and the AMPTP, the association for Hollywood’s largest studios and production companies, finalized a deal in favor of both, resulting in the end of the strike.
The strike ended after 118 days of not working on any movies or TV shows on the sets. Regarding the strike settlement, the SAG-AFTRA union’s statement shared that they have concluded by making a contract enabling the SAG-AFTRA members from every category to build sustainable careers. With this, thousands of performers will benefit from this deal.
Talking about what the new deal agreement was! Well, as of now, there are no such confirmed updates about the deal, but a few broad points have been revealed.
Union first valued the contract at $1 Billion, giving extraordinary scope, including minimum compensation and pension and health plans for the actors and other stars working for the studios. In addition, the statement also shared the protection of the workers in these studios and production houses from the poised threats of AI.
And at last, a “Streaming Participation Bonus” has been given a thumbs up for the first time. With this bonus, all the stars and other members behind the streaming of a successful movie or TV will be compensated accordingly. Also, there have been talks about increasing the compensation bay for background performers.
Will the Hollywood TV Shows and Movie Production Start Now?
Likey soon! Currently, only the agreement has been shared between the two parties. However, there is a need for the approval of the National Board of the Union, which will be giving the final call on whether to go with this agreement or if there should be any changes. But soon, we can expect the official statement from the union members, and studios and production houses might start announcing and producing their future movies and TV shows.
