The bids for hosting the FIFA World Cup are approaching their deadline on Tuesday. But even before the deadline, Australia—one of the most formidable rivals to host the World Cup—dropped out, giving Saudi Arabia the upper hand in winning the bid.
“We have explored the opportunity to bid to host the FIFA World Cup and – having taken all factors into consideration – we have reached the conclusion not to do so for the 2034 competition,” Football Australia (FA) said in a statement.
In the statement, the Australia Football Federation didn’t clarify the reasons for dropping out from the bidding.
Is Saudi Arabia hosting FIFA 2034? Is it Confirmed?
As of now, only the details about Australia dropping out from the bidding is out. However, Saudi Arabia should get official approval from the FIFIA committee to win the hosting.
A Saudi Journalist, Ahmed Al Omran, shared his remark, saying that Australia’s dropout clears the way for Saudi Arabia to host the new season for the World Cup.
