Jay Weinberg Steps Out from Slipknot
The Masket Metal Band announced the news through their website and their social media website, announcing that Weignberg is no longer associated with the group. The band member shared their tribute to Jay Weingberg for being there through the years for the band’s success.
“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years,” the band wrote in a statement. “No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style, or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums, and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.“
For the readers who don’t know, Jay is the son of Bruce Springsteen, who is more known for being the longtime drummer for famous American bands like Bruce Springsteen and the E Street.
Many fans have loved Jay’s performance in Slipknot, especially his beats in hard rock albums like The Gray Chapter from 2014, We Are Not Your Kind from 2019, and the latest, The End, So Far from 2022, got immense love from the fans.
Why is Jay Weinberg leaving Slipknot?
After the sudden announcement, there is no such official statement revealed either by the band member or from Weinberg himself, talking about the reasons behind leaving Slipknot. Neither is there any information shared about whether Jay will appear again on stage, showing his talent with another band, or if he will start something on his own.
Jay Weinberg, who is more known for his energy and style, joined Slipknot back in 2014 after Joey Jordison, the ex-drummer of the band, left in 2013. Talking about the previous drummer, Jordion, who stayed with the band for nearly two decades, shared in an interview that he was fired.
In addition, he also shared that Slipknot band members were confused with his medical illness with substance abuse problems. The drummer was diagnosed with the disease named Transverse Myelitis. The drummer died in 2021 at the age of 46.
